Alex BERGHOFEN is the founder and Managing Partner of Helex Asia. Alex is an Asia veteran with 12 years in Asia under his belt. He has 17 years experience in Management Consulting and Recruiting and is the No. 1 authority on Management Consulting recruitment in Asia. He has interviewed over 1,500 top-tier consultants (usually with McKinsey, Bain or Boston Consulting Group background) and has reviewed over 10,000 consulting CVs.

Previous to founding Helex Asia in 2010, Alex was a Jr. Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company in their Singapore office, advising C-level clients on strategic issues. He joined McKinsey after completing his MBA with INSEAD in Singapore (INSEAD is currently ranked the #1 MBA Programme in the World by the Financial Times).

Before attending INSEAD, Alex was a Senior Recruitment Consultant with Michael Page International, a leading specialist recruitment firm where he built up and headed the Management Consultancy practice in Germany. Besides Management Consultants, he has also recruited mid-to senior-level finance professionals, usually with an M&A and/or Big 4-background. At Michael Page he was promoted rapidly into a leadership position and as a result was transferred to its Hong Kong office.

Earlier in his career Alex worked in in-house consulting for Fresenius, a DAX-30 company. He also was Managing Partner of a student-run-consulting firm where he worked as an advisor to Dax-30 blue-chip-clients. He started his career in banking.

Alex is excited about Asia which has been his home for nine years. He has lived in China, Hong Kong and Singapore and has also spent significant time working in Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. Before coming to Asia, he was working and living in the US and Europe.

Besides English, Alex speaks native German and basic Mandarin and Spanish. Alex holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in Business Administration from the N├╝rnberg Univ. of Applied Sciences.

Alex splits his time between Hong Kong and Singapore and frequently travels to China. He is a German national and a Singapore Permanent Resident.
